One day in Bangkok I needed to find a Villa Market. At the time the closest one to me was in Silom.
I hadn’t been to that Villa Market before. So I checked Google Maps and saw that it was near Trinity Complex and Trinity Hotel.
My intended quick trip to Villa Market turned out to be more than that…
I set off for the Villa Market in Silom down Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra Road. Along the way I walked past a large bus station…
I found out that this is a BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) System. Apparently there were supposed to be more BRT lines. Yet, this one in Sathorn near Chong Nonsi BTS, is currently the only one.
These buses have their own lane, meaning they can travel faster than regular buses. The BRT starts/ends in Sathorn, and goes all the way to Ratchapruek station.
The fare is about 12-20 baht depending on where you want to go. I might have to take a ride to try it out one day. Sorry I digress!
Back to it…
After I walked past the BRT I had to take the stairs up to the Skywalk. As I went down and walked a bit further, I was on the corner of Soi Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra Soi 3. On this corner is a 7-Eleven.
Here I turned right to go down this street. I walked past Quad Suites Silom, and a Holiday Inn Express Hotel.
Then on my left I saw a sign for Trinity Complex…
There was also one of The Coffee Club branches…
There’s a street opposite this where you go down…
You’ll then see signs for Trinity Hotel and Trinity Complex…
I noticed that there were signs for Trinity Mall 3 so I went in…
Oh what a relief… it was air conditioned!
There were clothes, jewellery, sunglasses and other shops…
How could anyone wear a thick jacket in Bangkok?!
After I left Trinity Mall 3, I noticed there was a Trinity Food Hall…
Then as I went further down the road there was a Trinity Mall 2 and 1… Again, similar sort of items as in Trinity Mall 3, with air conditioning too. Nice!
I did find the Villa Market…
Yet after that I noticed plenty of people hovering and walking around. So I checked it out…
To my surprise there were heaps of outdoor stalls market style…
It snakes around many different alleyways. If you stay on the main roads you wouldn’t find this bustling market.
There’s plenty of little stalls selling almost anything you could imagine.
There’s plenty of clothes, shoes, accessories, homewares, personal care items, flowers, and more…
There’s even luggage, toys, some electronics, gadgets, and more…
And of course, it wouldn’t be a real Thai market without FOOD!
This market fires up around lunch time. It’s packed with people, so you have to be patient to get around. Otherwise avoid lunch hours.
I didn’t see many tourists here. And if you want souvenirs… this is not the place to go. For me, apart from exploring how the locals in the heart of Bangkok city live… I tried a few food items, and bought some grocery items… That’s it!
It appears to be a market for the locals. I found out that they call this Lalai Sap Market.
I’m not sure if it’s open on the weekend or at night time. So if you’re going to check it out, maybe go during the daytime on a week day.
