Paul and I had booked international flights from Bangkok Airport with Bangkok Airways. One of the perks, even if you purchase an economy ticket, is access to their airport lounge.
That’s right, all passengers have access! You don’t need to buy an airport lounge pass or have premium seats or elite status.
We were at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. The Boutique Lounge for Bangkok Airways International flights wasn’t that far to walk after we left immigration.
It’s at Terminal D on the 3rd Floor, opposite Gate D7. It operates from 04:30 to 22:00.
On our way there… we walked past several airline lounges, some of which looked stylish and exclusive.
Inside the Bangkok Airways Lounge…
Out the front of the Bangkok Airways Boutique Lounge was this…
Then here’s the entrance…
When we entered we showed our Bangkok Airways boarding pass and the staff scanned it.
They told us the gate number and re-confirmed the boarding time. They also let us know that there is no boarding announcement.
They also gave us a piece of paper each with details for wifi access…
Paul did a wifi internet speed test. Here was the result…
The download mbps speed was 8.72 and the upload speed was 1.25 mbps.
We walked down a long corridor, where we saw foldable wheelchairs…
Then there was a huge sign re-iterating the no boarding announcement…
Then as we got closer to the main area there were tables with various magazines on them…
Inside there were 2 computer terminals…
When we arrived it was pleasantly quiet. So we had a big choice of seating.
There are benches with tall seats…
Or we could choose to sit at tables and chairs…
Or on a different style of table and chairs with cushions and bench type seating…
We chose these ones initially…
Yet later on we moved. More people were piling in. So it was getting noisy and busy around these seats, as it was close to the tea and beverage machines.
Behind us was a water fountain and flat screen TV. The sound on the TV was muted but by the looks of it what was showing was uninteresting! Lots of promotional ads.
There was no music playing in the background of the Bangkok Boutique Airways Lounge. This made the atmosphere feel stale.
Food and Drinks in The Boutique Lounge
Now to check out the food and drinks!
Along one side are various foods…
At the time in the hot food section there were croissants, chicken sausage triangles, and cream cheese cinnamon raisin danishes…
Next to these were chocolate cupcakes, chicken ham and cheese sandwiches, and sticky rice with black bean and banana…
Next to these were rice chips and popcorn…
On another side were beverages…
These included hot tea and milk…
Coffees, hot chocolate and juices…
As well as a range of ice teas…
Here’s a little snack I had…
Now, if you need to visit the restrooms there aren’t any in the lounge. You have to leave the lounge…
The Bangkok Airways Lounge at Suvarnabhumi Airport is basic. So don’t expect too much. Remember, you can get lounge access even if you fly economy or don’t have elite airline status.
The good thing is… at least it was more comfortable than being out there in the hustle and bustle!
